The Company
CyberSpace Industries 2000 Inc. was incorporated in 1993 to provide consulting services to very small businesses. We coined the term "microBusiness" to refer to these companies, rather than the more common acronym SME (Small to Medium Enterprise).
Industry Canada statistics [from 'SGML Technology 1996' conference held in Ottawa on March 27, 1996] revealed that 99% of all Canadian businesses are microBusinesses (77% of businesses whose size is 20 people or less account for 77% of the total net increase in employment in the decade 1979-89). Hence microBusiness is the economic engine of Canada.
It was considered essential to establish an interactive test bed for meaningful research and development related to microBusiness. To this end a retail store (urbanMarket - Perth) was established in historic downtown Perth. CyberSpace Industries underwrote the online story of Perth, Ontario at www.all-about-perth.com — Past, Present, Future . Perth is a small (pop. 6000) town located to the southwest of Ottawa, with a very high percentage of microBusiness. Commercial traffic in the town consists of townspeople, retired people, cottagers and tourists.
By the year 2000, as well as services to microBusiness such as web site development, services were expanded to offer XML consulting and training to both government and private industry. In 2006, services were expanded once again to offer promotional services such as production of promotional material and DVD's.
The Consultants
W. Hugh Chatfield I.S.P. - President
The president of CyberSpace Industries 2000 Inc. holds an honours degree in Physics from the University of Manitoba; is a certified Information Systems Professional (since Feb. 1990); has over 35 years experience in Information Technology development; and has been working in the XML/SGML domain since 1993.
His XML/SGML consulting experience has been in the government, telecommunications, military, and private information sectors.
Hugh teaches off-the-shelf and custom training privately and at local training companies in town as well as providing consulting services and production of multimedia promotional material.

Edward Chatfield - Communications Consultant
Edward is a graduate with high honours from the Mass Communication program at Carleton University. He has worked full time in the past, and is currently working part time on contract. His specialization is web-based communication media; creating, programming and maintaining web sites for the CyberSpace Industries 2000 Inc. team as well as assistance with productions of promotional DVDs.
In the realm of XML, Edward had assisted on various projects involving data conversion, XSLT, DTD and XML to HTML programming, as well as web site development. He also tested and evaluated various XML training exercises, and performed the teacher assistant role during training courses.
CyberSpace Industries also has a number of consultants that can be called upon for specialized tasks and projects.
